Ending your Tenancy with First National Real Estate Michael Alexander

Ending the Fixed Term

If you have signed a lease for a period of time (Example - 6 months) and at the end of that six months you would like to leave, you must give 14 days notice to the agent before you vacate the premises. this 14 days cannot end before the end of the fixed term agreement. (Example - you are 3 months in to your six month lease and want to vacate in 14 days - if you do this you will need to continue paying rent until the end of the fixed term.

Ending a Continuing Lease

If the fixed term of your agreement has finished (You signed a six month lease and just are on a continuing lease) and you wish to vacate the premises, you will need to give the agent 21 days notice to vacate. You will need to pay rent up until the end of the 21 days and when you have handed the keys back to the agent and fully vacated the premises.
